After Care Information

Please follow these instructions for 14 days after the procedure to improve and prolong the results of your PMU treatment. If you don’t follow these instructions, it can greatly affect your PMU results or put you at risk for infection, scarring or loss of pigmentation! Keep in mind that cosmetic tattooing is a process. Two sessions are usually required to achieve the desired result. It is not uncommon to lose up to 50% of the color and or strokes after the first session.

DAY 1: Procedure Day

  • Rinse/ blot eyebrows every 30 minutes for the first 3 hours, with the provided wet cotton rounds and then once before bed. This will help clean any lymph build up to prevent heavy, crusty scabbing.

  • Apply a very thin layer of aftercare ointment to both brows once before bed. Only use a tiny amount (about the size of a gain of rice) A little goes a long way!

  • Be sure not to sleep on your face and keep the area clean

Day 2-14: No more Blotting Required

  • Gently wash eyebrows morning and night with unscented, antibacterial soap. (I recommend dial soap)

  • How to wash: Pump a tiny amount of soap onto fingertips and rub together with cold water to create a foam like consistency. Then use finger tips to softy apply foam to brows, gently washing. Be sure not to rub with heavy pressure. Remember, we want to clean the wound to remove any bacteria and product build up. to remove soap, get finger tips wet and apply a water to the brows removing any soap residue.

  • Pat brows dry with a paper towel or tissue (DO NOT USE A TOWEL) The cloth could be to harsh on the brows. Let your brows dry for about 5 minuets.

  • Once brows are dry, apply a thin layer of ointment to each brow. Remember, you do not need a lot of ointment. The packet given to you by your artist should last you a very long time. You can apply ointment 2-3 times a day as needed. (ex. - Morning, afternoon, night)

You will repeat this whole process for the next 10- 14 days

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Do not get the brows soak with water or sweat in any way.

  • Do not overuse aftercare ointment

  • avoid heat during the next 24-48 hours.

  • Do no expose treated area to direct sunlight.

  • After 30 days, use sunscreen to avoid fading from sun.

  • Do not rub, pick or scratch your brows following treatment or during healing process.

  • Wait 4-6 weeks before having any facials, peels or dermatology, or Botox treatments.

  • Avoid hot baths, swimming, saunas or steam rooms for at least 14- 16 days

  • Do not sweat for 10 days. This means no intense exercising. If you do sweat, quickly take a paper towel and pat dry

  • Do not apply makeup to the brow area during the healing process.

  • Avoid tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans) for at least 30 days.

  • Avoid using daily skincare products directly on the eyebrows.

  • Do not sleep on your face, try to sleep on your back.

  • If you are due to give blood after the procedure, please inform your nurse about the cosmetic tattoo treatment you have had as this might alter the results

  • If brows become painful, red or oozy, please see a physician. This could be signs of an infection.

  • It is normal to be sore and red right after, but if it persists and gets worse, this is cause for concern.

  • If you experience any pain, extreme redness, or irritation, contact your technician immediately

What to expect

Initially, your brows will appear more bold than usual. Over the next few days after the procedure, your brows may darken during the healing process. This is normal and this is not the way they will remain. Around 7-14 days, you may notice some flaking/shedding of the skin near the brow area. Think of this as very small “scabs” falling off the skin now that the skin underneath has healed. You may feel they appear uneven at times because of this. When the skin flakes off, many times the microblading strokes appear very light or sometimes it seems that they have disappeared. THIS IS NORMAL! This is because there is still a thick layer of protective, opaque skin creating a veil over the pigment. Once you go through a skin cycle (4-6 weeks) the pigment will typically reappear but will be about 30-50% lighter than it was immediately after the procedure.
