Who is NOT a Good Candidate for PMU

FAQs

WHAT IS PMU? (Permanent Makeup)

Permanent makeup, also known as intradermal pigmentation, is a revolutionary technique in which pigments are applied into the dermal layer of skin. A special kind of tattoo pen or machine is used to inject pigment ink into the skin.

MICBOLADING VS SHADING?

In Microblading, a special hand tool with a group of blades is used to cut through the skin to insert pigment and create hair-like strokes. With Shading, a PMU tattoo machine with a single need or more, is used to implant pigment into the skin to create depth and definition to the brow for a clean, polished look.

DOES IT HURT?

There can be some slight discomfort with any PMU service, however, we use two types of numbing agents at Electric Browz. One is a topical cream we place on the brow and let this soak for 10 minutes before we break skin. The second is called “secondary numbing gel. This is applied after the first or second pass and continuity applied throughout the whole procedure. This gel also helps with any slight bleeding and redness as well.

HOW LONG IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Healing can depend on skin type and texture but generally healing takes about 10-14 days. You will be ready to come back for your touch up in about 4-8 weeks after your initial session.

WHY IS THERE A Recommended 4-8 WEEK TOUCH UP SESSION?

When we are dealing with permanent make up and tattooing the face, we only implant pigment into 3 layers of the skin, opposed to 6 layers like a regular body tattoo. This can cause ink to push out through the healing process which may require some slight touch ups. We also do not know how your skin will take the pigment after you heal or how well the client followed their aftercare requirements. We call this the “enhancement session” Some clients may need more than two session to achieve the desired saturation.

HOW LONG WILL MY BROWS LAST?

The goal is to get a full year or more of great color out of your brows before they feel like they need to come back for an annual touch up.

  • Everyone’s skin is different, but generally combination/ oily skin tends to fade and blur quicker.

  • Shading services tend to hold their shape and color a bit longer than microblading alone.
